COMMUNITY & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH WE WORK and LIVE
Lakeside Taxis and Lakeside Travel Services operate within the communities of Kendal, Windermere and the extended area of the Lake District, Cumbria. We value all our customers, employees, suppliers and partners and try to treat everyone with respect for the business and work support that is trusted to us.
Working with and giving back to our communities is a fundamental part of our business life. Everyone within the company from Directors to Drivers, have an opportunity to help and support their local communities by donating and fundraising, as well as volunteering their time and energy to local charities and causes.
Many of our services and vehicle facilities also offer valuable support to residents within our local communities. For example:
Working with Cumbria County Council Children’s Services
On a professional basis Lakeside Taxis have undertaken to work with Cumbria Country Council to transport Children with special needs to and from their home address to their local school. This work is specialised as each driver must also be accompanied by a person who holds a Cumbria County Council Escort Badge and has the right qualities and character to meet the demands of the work.
Supporting the disabled and wheel chair users
Many of the Companies vehicles have wheel chair access and all vehicles carry Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs or other Assistance dogs belonging to customers.
Directors and Staff also offer support to local Charitable Organisations. For Example:
Supporting the work of South Lakeland Carers
Each year the Company joins with other Lake District Business organisations to attend a Gala Dinner in aid of raising funds for South Lakeland Carers. South Lakeland Carers is an independent, local charity and network partner of Carers Trust. They provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland.
Lakeside Taxis and Lakeside Travel Services are very pleased to support South Lakeland Carers and apart from fundraising, also donate various items, needed by carers and organisations associated with the charity. This year a Food Processor was donated to the ‘Whinfell Day Centre’ which will use the processor in their weekly cookery class.
Anyone wishing to add their support or donations can find more information on the charity and it’s work on the charities website.
Supporting the work of Impact Aid Charity Raffle
Impact International are a large local business and business account customers of Lakeside Taxis. Impact Aid is a charitable foundation run by Impact and the Lake District Hotels Group of Cragwood, Merewood and Briery Wood.
This year we have donated a ‘X-Box 1’ with games through the raffle to their chosen charity, the Jigsaw Children’s Hospice Cumbria.
Our new Corporate Social Responsibility Programme
Lakeside Taxis and Lakeside Travel Services recognise that our success and future is based within the local communities in which we serve. During the early part of 2018 we will be setting up a Company based Social Responsibility Programme where the Directors and Staff will adopt a local or a number of local charities to develop a 12month programme of staff fundraising events, volunteering and pay donations. The selected charities will also be promoted as our adopted charity through our Marketing activity and channels for the year.
